What's going on with higher education?

My recent conversation with Sonoma State University President, Dr. Ruben Armiñana and Dan Condron covered some hot topics including:

• how severe budget cuts are hurting our educational system
• the priorities of California are skewed; we pay $43,000 to house a prisoner, but only $11,000 to teach our children (per person)

If we want to truly change the educational system, we need to shift money from prisons to schools.
